Cyclone Gonu hits Jask in south of Iran

Jask - Jask governor said the Crisis Headquarters in the town has been put on alert as the Cyclone Gonu hit the town. In an emergency meeting of the headquarters on Friday evening, Nasser Nasseri said because of the cyclone, electric power in some villages has been cut off.

He added that the protecting walls around the city have been destroyed and sea water is advancing into some parts of the city.

Head of the area Meteorology Office also said wind speed is about 80 km/h and length of waves reach 3 meters.

Jask has 40,000 population and is located 300 kilometers east of Bandar Abbas, capital of Hormuzgan province and on the coast of of Oman Sea.
