Abu Dhabi, 16 May 2010: The Abu Dhabi Media Company -published 'Majid' magazine was presented with the Majid bin Mohammed Youth Media award on the sidelines of the Arab Media Forum which was held in Dubai last week.

Majid, which was launched in 1979, won the award under the category of Best Media Organization for the year 2010.

"We're absolutely thrilled to have won this award which recognizes the evolution of Majid magazine and the continued support of our management at Abu Dhabi Media Company . The award is designed to showcase young Emirati talent in the media world, and comes in line with the vision of our magazine to develop Emiratis and encourage them to create their own opportunities. Being recognized by our industry peers is truly an honor and this will only see us continue to strive for content and organizational excellence," said Ms. Fatima Saif, Editor in Chief of Majid.

The Majid bin Mohammed Youth Media award was created under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and was launched in 2008 under three categories: journalism, radio and video. It opened channels of communication with a range of universities to familiarize youth with the award and encourage them to participate. The first session saw a large youth turnout and many contributions in over 1500 different creative genres. Consequently, it decided that the committee would add a fourth category in the second round in 2009, which was 'Best talk show host'. In the third year, two categories were added: photo journalism and graphic design. These two additions coincided with new media art trends among young people and are compatible with new media specializations.

Previously, 'Majid' magazine has been awarded several prizes; among those is the Arab Journalism award- the most prestigious award of the category in the Arab world- for two years.
