Alfa signs off Beirut 39 event
Beirut - 28 April 2010: In its continuous efforts to promote the best, and stemming from its belief that culture is the driving force behind the progress of society, Alfa , the first mobile operator managed by Orascom Telecom since February 2009, sponsored Beirut 39 Festival , the largest cultural festival and event to take place this year in Lebanon. Beirut 39, organized by Hay Festival for Beirut World Book Capital, is the celebration of the best 39 Arab writers less than 40 years age from across the Arab world. A series of more than 50 events were held between the 14th and 18th of April across the country to promote the works of those talented writers, where Alfa has been an avid supporter of these efforts.
Kick-starting this event was a prestigious inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday 14th April at the "Casino du Liban" where Alfa 's Chairman and CEO, Mr. Marwan Hayek, was among 10 guests of honors distributing trophies to the writers participating in the festival. Several activities took place in different locations in the following days in public places, libraries, bookshops, coffee shops, universities, and schools. To end on a happy note, a closing event took place at Place de L'Etoile, in a 39 minutes musical gathering for all the writers and distinguished guests.
In addition to the rich activities that Beirut 39 Festival done for those talented writers, Alfa marked the last day of this outstanding event, during a remarkable signature session at City Mall, Dora, on April 18th, where people visited Alfa 's booth and received writers' signatures.
