British Chocolatier Plans to Open 30 Stores in ME Expansion Drive
DUBAI - Hotel Chocolat, the luxury British chocolatier and cocoa grower, plans to open 30 stores in Middle East during next five years. The chocolate brand recently launched its first store at the newly-opened Mirdif City Centre and will open three more outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait this year.
"The GCC's major markets UAE and Saudi Arabia have higher per capita consumption of chocolate than any other mature and emerging markets. The markets for chocolate across the GCC continues to display robust growth," Lynn Cunningham, International Partner Director, Hotel Chocolat Limited told Khaleej Times.
She said the company has selected Bahrain-based Jawad Business Group for its exclusive frachise in the Middle East region.
"The market in Saudi Arabia is also set to expand by 10 per cent from $308 million in 2008 to almost $340 million in 2011," she said.
"We are delighted to introduce our contemporary, innovative and ethical chocolate to Dubai. Chocolate has and, we hope, always will be one source of pleasure that no one can resist," Cunningham said.
Since launching in 1993, Hotel Chocolat's portfolio now spans the globe. Its cocoa plantation in St Lucia employs local labour under its unique Engaged Ethics programme and the forthcoming hotel and chocolate manufactory will use local ingredients in its recipes.
