As one of the best-known and most influential women in the Arab world, Nashwa has served as a role model for women across the region, fighting for women's rights and leading the way in bridging the gap between East and West. Nashwa has been involved in a number of initiatives and conferences including the US-Islamic Forum exploring issues of cultural interaction between the United States and the Muslim world, Muslims on Screen and Television to tackle negative Arab stereotypes in he media and the Gulf Center for Statistical Research to open dialogue in Arab communities on the status of women.
The World Justice Project will be holding its first major conference in the Middle East and North Africa in Morocco and will bring together over 150 regional leaders from many disciplines to address the Rule of Law issues relevant to the MENA region and raise awareness of the impact Rule of Law has on all aspects of life. The Rule of Law is a system that attempts to protect the rights of citizens from the abusive use of government power.
The action-oriented conference will explore the concept of access to justice in legal, political, social, economic and cultural contexts related to people and especially disadvantageous groups including women, youth and minorities.
More recently, Nashwa has won the prestigious Feigenbaum Leadership Award and was awarded the Gold prize at the Tenth Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival held in Bahrain for her show 'Nashwa'. She was also nominated for 'Best Entertainer' at the 2008 Rose d'Or Awards in Switzerland and for 'Best Media Personality' at the Association of International Broadcasters, UK.
The Project is endorsed by prominent world leaders from legal and non-legal disciplines including past and present Heads of State, Ministers, Supreme Court Judges, heads of international institutions, and Military, Business, Religious and Civil Society leaders. Primary sponsors to date have included governments, leading international corporations, law firms and legal associations, and significant donor foundations.
