Samarah Dead Sea Resort awards infrastructure contract

Scope of work includes roads, water tanks and associated work at Rift site

Samarah Dead Sea Resort work progressing for handover of homes this year
Amman, Jordan; January 31, 2010: The infrastructure development contract for Samarah Dead Sea Resort, owned by The Dead Sea Touristic and Real Estate Investment Company, formed by Emaar Properties PJSC along with a group of regional and Jordanian investors, has been awarded to Arab Towers Contracting Company.

The contract valued at JD 3.6 million is for road, irrigation, power & telecom networking and related work in the resort development managed by Emaar International Jordan .

Arab Towers, a leading construction company in Jordan, will undertake a range of infrastructure support works that also cover drainage, external works and water tanks at the Rift site of Samarah Dead Sea Resort.

Mr Peter Titus, General Manager of Emaar International Jordan , said Samarah Dead Sea Resort is progressing as envisaged with the first homes to be handed over this year. "World-class infrastructure development is integral to ensuring a superior lifestyle experience for our customers, and we have joined hands with Arab Towers, which has an established track-record in undertaking complex and large-scale projects."

He added: "With the infrastructure development work now taking momentum, we will focus attention on other aspects of the community development, and ensure that customers can check in to a fully integrated neighbourhood."

Mr. Hisham Wadi, General Manager of Arab Towers, said the contract is a milestone in the company's project history in Jordan. The contract covers work on roads and parking, drainage, irrigation and fire safety installations, power and telecom networking, hard and soft landscaping, boundary walls and other related work.

The Samarah Dead Sea Resort is in line with the growth plan for Jordan as outlined by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development . The first phase of the project is progressing with remarkable on-ground construction, undertaken to the highest standards. The focus of Emaar is now on completing the infrastructure and the construction of the homes in line with the company's commitment to deliver on promises. With the first phase coming on line, the region will become a buzz of activity and a modern lifestyle destination in the Dead Sea region.
