Syria, Lebanon Agree on Supplying Electricity to Lebanon
Damascus - Director General of Establishment for Electricity Generation and Transmission Hisham Mashfej and General Director of Lebanese Electricity Kamal al-Haik signed an agreement to renew the contract of supplying electricity from the Syrian station of Dimas to the Lebanese station of Anjar and from Simerian Station to Deir Nabouh for one extra year.Mashfej said that the quantity of the electricity given to Lebanon was more than 8 billion Kilowatt/hours since 1998, adding that the two agreements state that Lebanon will be supplied with electricity according to the available capacities in Syria.
For his part, al-Haik said that those agreements were as successful experiments and they must be generalized to all sectors and this accord is necessary technically to Lebanon to guarantee the electrical stability.
