Kyrgyzstan Lowers Customs Tariffs

Kyrgyzstan's Ambassador in Tehran Medetkan Shermkulof said on Monday his country has lowered customs tax and tariffs for Iranian traders.

He made the statement in a meeting with Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari, IRNA wrote.

"Iran has prioritized the expansion of trade with its neighboring countries," Ghazanfari said, adding that Kyrgyzstan has a special place in Iran's foreign trade.

He proposed to offer banking facilities to Iranian contracting companies that launch projects in Kyrgyzstan and to sign preferential trade agreements.

The Kyrgyz official said over 170 Iranian companies are active in Kyrgyzstan.

"Kyrgyzstan is willing to open an Iranian bank branch and import Iranian technical and engineering expertise," he said.

Meanwhile, an Iranian trade exhibition is underway in Baku, Azerbaijan. The 4th Industrial and Commercial Capabilities Exhibition will wrap up on Nov. 11.

Nearly 60 Iranian companies active in food, clothing, home appliances, electronics, industries, agriculture and accessories attended the event to showcase their recent achievements and products in the four-day fair.
