Panasonic Unveils a Bevey of New Gadgets for Middle East

DUBAI -- Panasonic launched an array of new products for the Middle East at the Gitex Technology Week on Sunday, including the world's first Full high-definition (HD) 3-D Plasma Home Theater System, an additional nine LCD ands eight Plasma high-definition VIERA TVs, an 85-inch Full HD plasma display, a newly designed DMC-GF1 camera, and the Japanese company's latest ePassport Reader, the JT-P100.

The company's full HD 3D Plasma Home Theater System enables the viewing of true-to-life Full HD 3D images by using a Panasonic 103-inch Plasma HDTV and a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc (BD) player capable of distributing Full High Definition (1920 x 1080 pixels).

"Our technological solution surpasses conventional 3D technology currently available, and Panasonic is fully committed to making it available to customers very soon," said Fabien Roth, Senior Marketing Manager at Panasonic TV Group. " Panasonic 's Full HD 3D technology will be delivering a truly immersive experience. People will no longer be watching a movie; they will be experiencing the realism of Hollywood film," he said in a statement. Through technological advancements in transport bandwidth and storage media, consumer 3D entertainment is now able to deliver a true high-definition picture. Using a special pair of active shutter glasses that work in synchronisation with the Plasma Theater's HDTV, the viewer is able to experience 3D images formed with twice the volume of information of regular Full HD images, Panasonic said.

VIERA Flat-Panel TV

Panasonic said that it now offers three advantages for the consumer, including enhanced features such as 'Full-time Full HD' and VIERA Image Viewer function for the playback of pictures and videos by SD card, which the manufacturer claims to be world's first in a flat-panel TV.

"The way people see TV in the Middle East has dramatically evolved, and our products are designed to match our customer's changing lifestyles," said Abby Thomas, Senior Manager, Consumer Electronics Department, Panasonic Marketing Middle East . " Panasonic is committed to making leading entertainment technology readily available to our customers."

CAMERA DMC-GF1

Panasonic has added a new model DMC-GF1 to its LUMIX G Micro System lineup of new-generation digital interchangeable lens system cameras. Distinguished by a thin, compact body, the new DMC-GF1 debuts as the world's smallest and lightest camera with a built-in flash. The new GF1 takes its place as the third model in the G series of digital interchangeable lens system cameras. The series' first model--the lightweight DMC-G1 -- was a hit, and the company claims to have broken new ground when it launched the DMC-GH1, which added AVCHD full-HD movie recording.

ePassport Reader

Panasonic also introduced the latest ePassport Reader, the JT-P100. This new technology includes colour and IR/UV image capture and barcode reading capabilities. The JT-P100 has a wide range of applications, including immigration control, aircraft boarding procedures and hotel guest ?management services.

"The latest ePassport Reader includes proprietary technology unique to Panasonic that boosts the reading speed," Yasuo Yamasaki, Panasonic 's General Manager for Marketing, Middle East, said in a statement.

"Our high speed ePassport Readers demonstrate Panasonic 's innovative ability to produce new and improved products for a variety of different markets. The JT-P100 Reader is in the world's smallest class, and the compact dimensions make it easy to install on even the narrowest workspace. Panasonic has supplied immigration authorities around the world with high-speed passport readers for 20 years, and we continue to make products, like the JT-P100, that are more accurate, faster and easier to use than ever before," ?Yamasaki said.

85-INCH PLASMA TV

In another first, the company introduced an 85-inch full high definition (HD) plasma display, which is designed for professional users in the Gulf. Panasonic introduced the world's largest 103-inch plasma display to the market in 2006. Its large displays have a wide range of commercial and consumer applications, from business and public signage and education to broadcasting stations and home theater, the company said.
