Moroccan Attijariwafa Bank's H1 net rises 13.1 Percent

Casablanca - Morocco's private banking group Attijariwafa Bank said its first-half net for year 2009 increased 13.1 percent.

Net income rose to 1.95 billion dirhams, while the consolidated balance sheet reached 269.45 billion dirhams, that is a 11.5% increase compared to the same period a year earlier, the Casablanca-based bank said on Friday.

The Bank's consolidated capital hit 22.6 billion dirhams end of June, jumping by 14.3% compared to 2008 first-half, Attijariwafa Bank 's president and CEO, Mohamed EL Kettani, told the press.

These positive figures were achieved thanks to interests (+8.6%) and market's activities, he said.

The group includes 10,385 employees and 1,296 agencies. It operates in Tunisia, Senegal, Mali, Europe and the Middle East.
