Omani heads Occidental of Oman
MUSCAT -- Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY ) on Tuesday announced the promotion of Isam al Zadjali to the position of President and General Manager of Occidental of Oman . A national of Oman, he succeeds Glenn Vangolen, who will relocate to Abu Dhabi as Vice-President, International Business Development. "I am delighted to promote Isam al Zadjali, an Omani national, to this very important position in a country where Oxy has a long history of growth -- not only of our oil and gas business, but also in the development of our national work force," said Ray R Irani, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Occidental Petroleum Corporation .
"I am also pleased that we will continue to have the benefit of Glenn Vangolen's extensive experience in the Middle East region as he embarks on his new responsibilities for Oxy in Abu Dhabi." Al Zadjali joined Oxy in 2001 and has held a series of positions of increasing responsibility. He has served as Deputy General Manager of Occidental of Oman since 2006. He joined the company from the Oman Ministry of Oil and Gas, which he joined after graduating from Pennsylvania State University in 1992 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. As General Manager, he will report to Sandy Lowe, President, International Production, Oxy Oil and Gas.
Vangolen is a 1981 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He has held numerous positions in the United States and the Middle East during his 28-year career with Oxy . In his new position, he will report to John Winterman, Executive Vice-President, Oxy Oil and Gas.
