Jordan, Japan to train Iraqi electricity employees
Amman - Jordan and Japan signed an agreement on Tuesday to train staff of the Iraqi Electricity Ministry in areas related to financial analysis, project planning and reducing electricity loss in distribution networks and transport lines.The agreement was signed for Jordan by Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Secretary General Nasser Shreideh and Director General of the National Electric Power Company NEPCO Ahmad Hiyasat, and for Japan by Resident Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Shigeru Okamoto.
Hiyasat said in a press statement following the signing ceremony that NEPCO would cooperate with JICA on organizing a training program for 60 employees from the Iraqi Electricity Ministry.
The program includes lectures on demand on electric energy, expansion of electricity generation, transport networks as well as technical and financial studies for electricity projects.
The NEPCO director said the program was part of a series of programs implemented by the company in cooperation with JICA for employees of the electricity sector in Iraq, Yemen and Palestine.
