Exhibitions for Libya's infrastructure and oil & gas sectors attract strong international support
The third in the series of two international exhibitions addressing Libya's infrastructure and oil & gas sectors, Infrastructure Libya 2010 and Oil & Gas Libya 2010, is set for 08/11 March 2010 at the Tripoli International Fairground.Infrastructure Libya is staged against a background of a US$100 billion investment programme aimed at expanding, upgrading and modernising Libya's infrastructure which calls for technology and expertise in a broad range of sectors including building & construction, transport & communications, water & environment, power & electricity, and safety & security. Also included are the service sectors, not least education & training, and business & finance. Infrastructure Libya 2010 is supported by Libya's leading public and private sector organisations.
Oil & Gas Libya provides a forum for Libya's vital petroleum sector which is looking to attract US$42 billion of foreign investment in order to achieve its objectives of raising oil production from its current level to 2 million b/d by 2010, with longer term ambitions to raise it to 3 million b/d by 2015. Oil & Gas Libya 2010 is being held under the patronage of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) .
Exhibitors and exhibitor groups are now committing their resources to the exhibitions and the organisers, Montgomery Libya Ltd / Dar Alarab, are anticipating the biggest and most comprehensive event in the series to date. National pavilions are in prospect from:
- China: Chinese companies look to the event as a showcase for the Libyan market and will be returning as in previous years. Regular exhibitor names include Kerui Holding Group, RG Petro-Machinery and ZYT Petroleum Equipment.
- France: the French Government export agency, UbiFrance, is planning to support a national group of companies looking to promote their products and services to Libya's infrastructure sector, as well as organising a workshop highlighting France's infrastructure capabilities.
- Germany: the German Ministry of Economics is supporting a national pavilion in association with the German Association of Steel and Metal Processing Industry which is returning to Infrastructure Libya following a successful participation with 11 exhibitors in the last edition of the exhibition.
- Italy: a national pavilion of exhibitors addressing both Libya's infrastructure and oil & gas sectors is being coordinated and supported by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE).
- Poland: the Polish Embassy in Tripoli is again taking an information stand and bringing major companies from Poland's infrastructure and oil & gas industries.
- UK: with the support of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), the British Society of Maritime Industries is coordinating a group of companies from its ports and terminals division and its offshore industries section.
- USA: the US Department of Commerce is granting the event support under its 'Trade Fair Certification' programme, which provides market confidence and reassurance in the reputation of the fair and its organisers. This is to encourage an even greaterr participation of US exporters than in previous exhibitions in the series.
Other national participations are planned from neighbouring North African countries including Egypt and Tunisia.
The biggest participation will be from Libya itself. This will include manufacturing and service companies as well as trading agencies representing their principals from around the world as well as looking for new agency prospects.
The last in the series of Infrastructure Libya / Oil & Gas Libya exhibitions attracted 4,156 registered visitors, including public and private sector planners, specifiers and procurement officials, engineers of all disciplines, specialist contractors and trading agents. 204 exhibiting companies from 21 countries participated in the event, including national groups from Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Malta, Poland, UK and the USA.
