MPH named teaching affiliate of Oman Medical College
Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) has always been in the forefront for its constant initiatives to help enrich the Private Healthcare sector in Oman. From being the first private hospital to conduct open heart surgery in the Sultanate, to being the first private healthcare institution to conduct Continuing Medical Education programmes, MPH has done it all. And in helping take MPH 's commitment forward, Muscat Private Hospital has joined hands with the prestigious Oman Medical College to develop a training programme for 3rd year Medical students. This initiative will see MPH providing medical education and exposure programmes for students currently studying to be physicians at the Oman Medical College.
Oman Medical College (OMC) is a private co-educational college dedicated to the training of medical doctors and pharmacists in the sultanate. Over the next several months, Oman Medical College will send around 80 third-year medical students to MPH for various clinical learning programmes.
Gary Dorahy, Country Manager - OMPC and Hospital Director, MPH says, " Muscat Private Hospital is committed to improving the Private Healthcare sector in Oman and this initiative is just another example of our commitment. Having a highly skilled and motivated medical staff allows us to offer this unique training opportunity. We take this alliance very seriously, and aim to do our utmost to help towards ensuring the holistic learning of the students who train at our hospital."
She continues, "The community also benefits from this kind of an association, because high-caliber physicians who may enter practice in our very community are trained and taught practically through programmes such as these. As an educational body too, affiliations such as these help us to be on the cutting edge academically. Moreover, the opportunities for our faculty to develop collaborative research projects with the physicians in the hospital will also help advance our research agenda."
