Barwa Village units to be ready in early 2010
The company reaffirmed that tenants who currently occupy units scheduled to be redeveloped in phase one of the Heart of Doha project in Mohamed bin Jassim - Mousherib area will get priority in allotment of commercial and residential units at Barwa Village.
The Barwa Village project, launched in November last year, features residential and commercial units with a capacity of 13,000 residents. The 400,000 sq m Village is one of Qatar's major projects offering creative residential and commercial solutions outside the city of Doha to meet the demands of the Qatari and expatriate communities.
"Barwa Village project represents the creation of an integrated urban project, different from any other current project in Qatar. Barwa will give tenancy priority to tenants who currently occupy areas due to be redeveloped in Mohamed bin Jassim Area (Phase 1, A1&B1) - Mousherib, and will announce the removal stages shortly," said the company chairman, Ghanem bin Saad Al Saad.
Details of Barwa Village beneficiaries will be specified later along with a rental, distribution and transfer strategy which aims to meet the needs of occupants in areas under redevelopment. At a later stage, Barwa Village tenancies will be available to everyone after the needs of the priority cases are fulfilled. The rents will be in line with current market prices, he added.
More than 30 percent of the development is green space, designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The project does not allow high-rise buildings, therefore reducing traffic congestion. The maximum height for residential buildings is a ground floor, mezzanine and first floor, while civil buildings (school, nursery, club, administration building and mosque) are also ground plus two floors. Only the shopping mall, measuring ground plus three floors, will be taller.
Barwa Village will include facilities such as stores selling clothing and textiles, footwear, electronics, computers, furniture, medicines and jewellery.
