Five-day Comex 2009 opens today
The 19th edition hosts 110 participants representing over, 225 companies, including more than 20 govt bodiesMUSCAT -- The 19th edition of Comex, which begins today at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, hosts 110 participants representing over 225 companies from many countries, including more than 20 government bodies. The largest IT, Telecom and Technology show in the country, Comex 2009 remains open till May 29 from 10 am to 10 pm. Areas of interest at this year's Comex include the government section, business and shopper areas. The government section showcases various e-government services, such as e-payment, e-tendering, e-health, e-learning, e-entertainment and green initiatives.
The Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA), publishers of the Observer and its sister Arabic daily Oman, is the media sponsor of Comex-2009. Themed 'Comex Goes Green', Comex 2009 highlights various green initiatives, showcasing a range of energy-saving devices that reduce carbon footprints, increase efficiency and productivity at minimal cost. Comex green agenda is also aimed at promoting practices on how to manage e-waste which poses greater risk to the environment.
"Green agenda is the new thing at Comex. This year, Comex does not only provide the latest trends in ICT but a better platform to learn more on green IT. Comex features e-waste, wherein individuals can learn more on how to recycle ICT products, using the most advanced systems and solutions. Comex provides the best opportunity to meet up-close and personal with various suppliers of green initiatives and source environmentally friendly products, equipment and solutions", Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director -- Sales and Marketing at OITE, the event's organiser, said.
Business decision makers can get a wide range of IT, telecom and technology products and services at the Business Area, which runs from May 25 to 28, from 10 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9:30 pm. "With much better number of exhibitors compared to last year, the business section provides a unique platform that allows businesses to interact with customers, network and build new alliances. "This year's Comex witnesses bigger participation of the telecom sector including Omantel, OmanMobile, Nawras, FriendiMobile, Ericsson, Huawei and Renna, providing best value-added services and special offers. These companies will provide greater awareness on e-telecom, which is one of the sector's green initiatives", said Atif Khan, Sr Manager -- Trade Fairs at OITE.
Tech-savvy enthusiasts on the other hand can indulge in a broad spectrum of the latest technology, hardware, software, gadgets and consumer electronics being offered at amazing rates at the Shopper Area. It runs from 10 am to 10 pm starting from May 25 to May 29. Friday timing will be from 4:30 pm to 10 pm. Since its inception, Comex Shopper has been the most anticipated event for the best IT, telecom and technology offers never seen before. "We encourage everyone to visit Comex, learn the latest trends and get better value for their money. An event that every IT enthusiast shouldn't miss," Atif added.
