Construction of wastewater project at Airport Heights begins
MUSCAT -- Haya Water has started construction work for the implementation of the wastewater network in Airport Heights area.Engineer Mohammed Al Jameai, officer responsible for this project, said that the implementation of the wastewater network in this area falls within the main spine project designed for the wilayat of Al Seeb and signed with Gulf Petrochemicals & Trading Company , Mushrif Trading & Contracting Co and Green Tide General Trading Co at a total cost of RO55 million.
Al Jameai further said that the 9km main pipeline for the wastewater network that will work on the basis of earth gravity would be constructed in addition to another 12km of lateral sewers and connections with a diametre ranging between 200mm and 600mm.
The maximum depth of the network route would be 6.5metre, he added.
In addition to a station that will pump 550cu.m of wastewater to the main collection line, he said, another 21km pipeline, with a diameter of 110mm will be laid down to extend the network.
The Airport Heights network will cover the area located alongside the exhibition street up to Muscat International Airport and some 75 establishments will be connected to the wastewater network, such as the Shura Council Building, the Directorate-General of Traffic and the Muscat International Airport as well as other government and private establishments.
The spine line is the fourth project that is being carried out by Haya Water in the wilayat of Seeb within the overall Muscat wastewater project.
In addition to this project, the company is also setting up a treatment plant with a daily capacity of 80,000 cubic metres.
The company is also engaged in the implementation of the wastewater network project that operates on air vacuum system in the coastal area of wilayat Seeb.
It is also carrying out a third project to construct wastewater networks in South Ma'abelah.
