Clemenceau Medical Center celebrates JCI accreditation
Beirut, Lebanon - March 8th 2009: Celebrating the accreditation of Clemenceau Medical Center by the Joint Commission International (JCI), CMC on Wednesday invited all staff, community health care leaders and physicians to a reception honoring CMC achievement. The reception was attended by Dr Mohammad Khalifeh, the Lebanese Minister of Health, members of the Johns Hopkins Medicine International team and distinguished faculty of Johns Hopkins University.Addressing CMC staff and management, Dr. Mounes Kalaawi, CEO of Clemenceau Medical Center said: "You exceeded all expectations. Congratulations on your outstanding and superb performance. It is your devotion to CMC which successfully enabled us all to reach where we are today. You must be so proud. Achieving JCI accreditation is not only CMC internal milestone, but also one for Lebanon as a hub and center of medical excellence in the region. It officially recognizes that the practices of our doctors, nurses, staff and the management team at CMC meet the standards of best facilities in the world".
Then the Minister of Health, Dr. Mohamad Khalife congratulated all the CMC staff for their success. And he stated "the Health issue is one of the main topics on the Council of Ministers' agenda. Our aim is to improve the standards & quality of services in the health sector in order to be able to provide the best healthcare services to the Lebanese."
Mr. Bassam Sayad, Managing director Global Services at Johns Hopkins Medicine International in the Middle East congratulated Clemenceau Medical Center , while Dr. Frederick Brancati presented to Dr. Kalaawi a "certificate of honor" on behalf of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, expressing their pride and satisfaction throughout the affiliation an collaboration with the center.
The reception was followed by internal medicine symposium, organized in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine International, covering a variety of related topics, including obesity and diabetes. Three eminent speakers from Johns Hopkins University, along with other speakers from Clemenceau Medical Center , held presentations and took part in the panel discussion held at the end of the event.
The symposium highlights CMC 's commitment towards continuous education, and the Lebanese Order of Physicians (LOP) will be granting 4 credits for the attending physicians.
