Mirbat Beach project showcased at Travel Mart
MUSCAT -- The RO 1 billion project undertaken by the Dhofar Tourism Company in Mirbat on the Salalah Coast was showcased at the recently concluded Oman Travel Mart. The project named as 'Mirbat Beach' stood out to be the latest, largest and the most important development projects in the south of Oman. The Dhofar Tourism Company 's pavilion at the OTM revealed the project plan of all its five phases of development as well as details of phase I, which is now nearing completion with the construction of a five star hotel called the Mirbat Beach Resort & Spa.The pavilion being among the newest addition to the tourism development projects in Oman drew crowds on all the three days. The project received an appreciation from Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Mohammed bin Hamoud al Toobi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism during their visit at the pavilion on the opening day of the OTM. Many prospective foreign investors from neighbouring countries as well as investors from Oman keen on establishing new business also visited the pavilion.
Commenting on the event Osama Mariam, CEO Dhofar Tourism Company , said "The Oman Tourism Mart had a remarkable turnout on the number of prospective business associates and customers who visited the stall. It was impressive to see a number of investors still keen to invest, despite the set back in the global financial scenario." "We are proud to be part of the many participants aiming to promote tourism and tourism related projects at the Oman Travel Market 2009. We will venture into other markets like the GCC and Europe, and contribute to popularising the Sultanate as a beautiful country for tourism and new business sectors on the global market platform."
The tourism industry has widely acknowledged Mirbat Beach as a world-class holiday destination with its outstanding facilities and incredible natural assets. This new development will extend the prospects of the Mirbat town into a destination for nature lovers, a perfect holiday for all and a business hub for many looking for a great getaway to host conferences, workshops and more. Phase II of the project features 161 Marina Apartments around a Marina which will have 75 berthing spots; 258 town homes of different sizes; 47 golf villas; over 10,000 sq m of retail space and 10,000 sq m of office space.
In addition, there would be a nine-hole golf course and clubhouse, a water park, a private hospital/clinic with helipad, nursery and childcare facility, as well as an entertainment centre for adults and children. The Dhofar Tourism Company took over the development of this region under the direction of the Ministry of Tourism and is driven by the vision of making Mirbat a premier tourist destination. The company projects include development of property into self-sufficient townships built with high sophistication.
