Ras Laffan Industrial City bags award
DOHA - Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) achieved another milestone by winning the prestigious 'Energy: Oil & Gas Award' at the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards ceremony held at the InterContinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City on Thursday. RLC also bagged the Seatrade Port Authority Award last year."This is a glorious day for the Qatar, Qatar Petroleum and Ras Laffan Industrial City . This is an achievement we are all proud of at Ras Laffan, and this award is dedicated to the people of RLC whose efforts led to the success of this remarkable feat," said Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Director of Ras Laffan Industrial City .
The Seatrade Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards is often referred to as the 'Oscars' of the international shipping industry. The Seatrade Awards scheme rewards innovative solutions for safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly shipping, in keeping with the goals and objectives of the International Maritime Organization.
The 'Energy: Oil and Gas Award' reiterates Ras Laffan Industrial City 's importance in the world oil and gas arena in terms of investment, growth, export and transport. Celebrity TV broadcaster and former BBC anchor Tim Sebastian, was the host for the evening that included heads of organisations and senior executives of the region's Maritime Industry.
The entries were assessed according to six fundamental principles: Contribution to the development of the maritime sector across the region; Innovation, either technical, operational or commercial; Commitment to safety and quality; Social and environmental responsibilities; Business enterprise and achievement; and Engagement with training and development of personnel.
