Oman Mobile celebrates 3 years of SMS parking service
MUSCAT -- Oman Mobile , the Sultanate's leading mobile operator, is celebrating three successful years of its SMS parking service. The service won an award in 2006 as the best mobile service in the MENA region, in addition to Oman Mobile ' Best Brand award in 2007 based on its quality of service and customer care. " Oman Mobile always strives for innovative, simple and interactive solutions to strongly serve over 1.6 million subscribers. Every achievement brings great benefits to valued subscribers and keeps them in the lead," Zuwaina al Rashdi, Branding and Marketing Communication Manager, said.Oman Mobile is the first mobile operator in the Middle East to introduce SMS parking, which proves the company's leading role in taking smart initiatives and being the first to move ahead. SMS parking is provided in co-operation with Muscat Municipality and has conveniently facilitated the life of subscribers and enhanced the modern image of Oman, Zuwaina noted. Oman Mobile has been the first to introduce numerous value-added services, including Smart Investor in co-operation with Muscat Securities Market, Sabq News in co-operation with Oman News Agency, Educational Portal in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, Job SMS in co-operation with the Ministry of Civil Services, Flight Information in cooperation with Oman Airports Management Company, and electronic payment services that serve the national economy and enhance the mobile world of subscribers, Zuwaina said.
User-friendly service
The SMS parking service conveniently benefits subscribers and is achieved in a few easy steps. With SMS parking, if subscribers wish to park their car in any of the paid parking areas spread across Muscat, all they need to do is send an SMS with the number and code of the car and the requested minutes to 90091. Subscribers will then be informed through an SMS message confirming the transaction. This message includes the number of the ticket, the number and code of the car and the time and date. The server system then sends an SMS message five minutes before the booking time ends and in case users wish to extend the parking time, all they need to do is send a new SMS with similar steps.
Oman Mobile has gained a number of awards for being the best communication service provider in the Middle East. This is based on Oman Mobile 's creative service towards the community, including the innovative SMS Parking, Zuwaina said. " Oman Mobile continues to take smart initiatives and has taken the lead to execute major projects that cover the various regions of Oman through agreements with global companies. These efforts and commitments have contributed to another accomplishment with Oman Mobile 's award for its wireless network implementation in the Middle East, ITP, after competing with the rest of the mobile operators."
