Amadeus Gulf partners with Bahrain Training Institute
Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry entered into a strategic training partnership with the Bahrain Training Institute (BTI). The new venture is seen a major step towards creating jobs and growth opportunities for travel industry.As per the agreement, Amadeus will offer students from BTI's Travel Academy an in-depth training on its global distribution system (GDS). The course which will commence from September 2008 will provide a full suite of on-line and classroom lessons to allow students build their skills and remain competitive in the fast-growing travel industry.
The institute will offer students a choice of three diploma programmes, with the basic one-year diploma programme involving a comprehensive training on Amadeus distribution system.
The curriculum is closely aligned to the requirements of the travel industry and follows the Amadeus Blended system of learning which incorporates key areas including fares and ticketing, flight reservations, car hire and hotel reservations.
Amadeus blended learning method includes e-learning modules for the basics, virtual classroom training covering more advanced topics and a discussion forum to receive support from the trainers or other participants. The Amadeus curriculum may be opted as a single subject course if so desired by the candidates. Upon successful completion of the 70-hour course, the student will be qualified for an internationally recognized certification from Amadeus.
"There is a growing demand for recognized travel management courses tailored for the local market.
With the industry growing rapidly we need more professionally trained manpower to support the local travel sector. BTI is committed to brining the highest standards of vocational training to equip Bahrain's labour force with job specific skills," said Jalil Al-Mansi, Head of Travel Academy, Bahrain Training Institute.
BTI is the only government institute for vocational training established by the Ministry of Labour in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
"The partnership between BTI and Amadeus serves the mission of the Ministry of Labour to groom young Bahrainis to assume supervisory and managerial positions in the travel and tourism industry," added Al-Mansi.
The course is ideal for beginners as well as professionals who need to advance their skills and are open to students and travel industry professionals from Bahrain and the greater Gulf region.
"As a technology leader in the travel industry, our goal is to ensure that tomorrow's leaders have the skills to compete not just in the Middle East but internationally as well. Through the training academy we hope to build and maintain a mutually beneficial long-term relationship with the travel industry professionals, by contributing our technology and knowledge," said Ghulam Saleh Al Bloushi, Managing Director, Amadeus Gulf.
Further expanding its expertise, early this month, Amadeus entered into a 10-year exclusive distribution agreements with 12 leading airlines from the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO). These 12 airlines - Air Algérie, Afriqiyah Airways , EgyptAir , Etihad Airways , Kuwait Airways , Libyan Airlines , Qatar Airways , Saudi Arabian Airlines , Sudan Airways , Syrian Arab Airlines , Tunisair and Yemen Airways account for 66 per cent of reservations made by travel agencies in the Middle East and North of Africa (MENA) region.
