RTA inaugurates two new bus routes
Dubai, UAE - The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced that Public Transport Agency is launching today two new bus routes, as part of its ongoing efforts to widen and develop public transport network in Dubai, in a way matching with the urban, economic and demographic growth of the emirate in all fields.
Essa Abdul-Rahman Al Dosari, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency, stated that the RTA is always keen to provide level best services to customers through deploying highly sophisticated buses recently imported by the RTA from the world's best bus manufacturers. These buses are characterized by highest levels of comfort & security benchmarked against the best standards applied in the world over.
"The first route is known as 330; setting off from Silicon Valley to the Global City and vice versa via the Outsource Zone and Knowledge Village. The service will be operated with a 15 minutes interval time between buses from Saturday to Thursday, and 20 minutes interval time during Fridays and official holidays. The service will kick off at 05.00 am and terminates at 11.00 p.m.
"The second line (X23) will start from Al Nahdah area to the Global City and vice versa via Nayef Road, Al Shindagah Tunnel, Khalid bin Al Waleed Road, Ras Al Khor and Al Manama Road. The service will be operated with a 10 minutes interval time between buses from Saturday to Thursday, and 20 minutes interval time during Fridays and official holidays. The service will kick off at 05.00 am and ends at 11.00 p.m.
"Buses designated to operate over these two lines are of high technical specifications and fitted with the environment-friendly Euro IV engines and the unique transmission I-Shit system, along with advanced braking and stability systems (ESP); a matter which renders driving a convenient and safe exercise to passengers. The buses are equipped with all security & safety devices and have places reserved for people with special needs" said Al Dosari.
As to the interior designs of these two routes, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency stated that those buses are safe, roomy, reliable and convenient. "They fit well with the progress enjoyed by the UAE in general and Dubai in particular in all fields, particularly tourism; which has become a key feature of the emirate of Dubai. Already the city is a leading commercial & economic hub in the region and a point of attraction for investors & businessmen from various parts of the globe.
"Offering this service is part of the Strategic Plan of the RTA to uplift mass transit modes in Dubai and attract more commuters with a view to ease road congestion. RTA is keen to widen this service and boost the share of mass transit to 30% of person trips. This can be achieved through providing top quality & affordable transport alternatives, with wide geographical coverage and capable of competing private vehicles. Here we have to disseminate the awareness and reorient the existing social perspective towards mass transit modes, and seek to provide multi-modal integration of buses, metro, marine transport and taxis.
"This step is viewed as a quality addition capable of upgrading the level of services rendered to the increasing number of commuters in the said areas triggered by the huge urban & accelerated growth witnessed by the emirate in every field. Moreover, they will contribute to better traffic flow, and this will undoubtedly ease traffic congestion; particularly during the morning & evening rush hours.
