Labour Fund's career initiative gets a boost
The Labour Fund's ambitious Career Progression Programme managed by BDO Jawad Habib Consulting got a fillip yesterday with several Bahraini companies coming forward to join the cause of making Bahraini nationals the employees of choice.BDO Consulting signed agreements with some of the Kingdom's biggest business houses and companies to train more than 500 Bahrainis in the first batch of the programme.
Agreements were signed with major Bahraini companies, including Yousif Bin Yousif Fakhro, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Jawad Business Group and Mohammed Fakhro and Brothers.
Small and middle enterprises too accounted for a sizeable number of employees in the first batch that joined the CPP. These include Etisalcom, Bridge Industrial Services, Oriental Press, Falcon Aluminium and National Occupational Safety and Health Centre.
BDO Jawad Habib Consulting, a member firm of BDO International, one of the world's largest professional services firms provides advisory, auditing, tax and consultancy services on a globally integrated basis with over 626 offices in more than 111 countries, is responsible for the implementation and management of the CPP and handles all administrative and promotional activities specific to the work.
Under the CPP, the Labour Fund subsidises the HR consulting fees, the training cost and the salary increase of BD50 for the first 12 months toe ahc of the employee nominated for training.
The CPP project manager Dr. Ehsan Ghurbal said the programme launched in January would provide suitable training the nominated employees and equip them with the wherewithal to improve the productivity of their organizations. "The programme aims to offer relevant and suitable training for employees and thereby improve the productivity of the organisations they work for. We urge companies to benefit from the Career Progression Programme."
The company was currently involved in pre-qualifying Bahraini training service providers who would be able to provide suitable training courses for employees from the participating companies. Some of the pre-qualified training service providers include BIBF, Berlitz, Gulf Academy, GII, EMIC, Golden Trust, NIT and others.
He appealed to other training service providers and also companies in the Kingdom to come forward for the prequalification to provide training under the programme. Employers in the private sector can participate in the programme by nominating their eligible Bahraini employees.
The Career Progression Centre is located on the 3rd floor at Al Ezz Tower (off-the Exhibition Avenue) and is exclusively dedicated to receive requests, enquiries and support the execution of this programme.
