Sterlite Technologies announces win of US$17.5 Million contract from EEPCo Ethiopia at Middle East Electricity 2008

Sterlite Technologies Limited (formerly, Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd.), India's leading global provider of power transmission conductors, optical fibres and telecommunication cables, today announced at Middle East Electricity 2008 exhibition that it has received a contract from EEPCo (Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation), Ethiopia for the manufacture and supply of AAAC power transmission conductors. The contract is valued at US$17.5 Million and as per customer requirements, the deliveries are scheduled from April 2008 through September 2008.

Sterlite is a significant contributor to the global power sector through the manufacture of a complete range of power transmission conductors at Extra High Voltages (400kV - 800kV), High Voltages (66kV - 220kV) and power distribution conductors (11kV- 33kV). The Company has a cumulative manufacturing capacity of 115,000 MT (Metric Tons), making it the largest manufacturer in India and amongst the Top 5 global manufacturers of Power Conductors.
Internationally recognised as the power behind the Middle East Energy industry, and rated by exhibitors and visitors as the world's leading event of its kind, Middle East Electricity 2008 has attracted strong visitor traffic over the first two days of its four day run at Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
The show, which covers 34,000 square metres, is 17% larger than last year and features over 900 exhibitors from 55 countries plus 20 country pavilions - it runs through until Wednesday 13th February and is supported by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority and sponsored by C&S Controls and Switchgear, Clipsal, Eaton, Havells Sylvania, Jengan and Jubaili Brothers. The show is open from 10am to 6pm - admission is free for trade professionals.
