Libyan Airlines orders 15 Airbus aircraft

DUBAI --- Libyan Airlines yesterday said it has ordered for 15 Airbus airplanes including four A350-800s, four A330-200s and seven A320s, confirming an agreement it signed in June with the European aircraft manufacturer.

It said in a statement that the new purchases are in line with the airline's fleet requirements for long-haul operations, its growing network in local, Europe and Middle East markets, and the new international routes to Asian destinations.

"Operating different types of Airbus aircraft will allow us to fully benefit from the commonality between the aircraft and the cost efficiencies that this represents," said Tarek Arebi, the airline's chairman and CEO. He added that Libyan Airlines will have one of the most modern and youngest fleet in the Middle East.
