The Middle East Watch of the Year Award
Alam Assaat Wal Moujawharat Magazine, coinciding with its 10th anniversary, announced the winners of the Middle East Watch of the Year Award 2006 in a grand gala night held in Mina Al Salam Hotel in Dubai on the 13th of February. The event was attended by a VIP crowd, watch professionals and was marked by the number of guests who flew in from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Switzerland to be present.
Fifty-five international leading watch brands competed under 13 categories.
The participating brands were: Bovet, A Lange & Sohne, Cartier, Chaumet, Chopard, Chanel, Baume & Mercier, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Richard Mille, Ebel, Christian Dior, Girard-Perregaux, Guy Ellia, Officine Panerai, Franck Muller, Corum, Harry Winston, Audemars Piguet, Ulysse Nardin, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Perrelet, Zenith, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vacheron Constantin, Alain Philippe, IWC Schaffhausen, Parmigiani, Greuble Forsey, Hautelence, Villemont, Dewitt, Richard Mille and many others.
The Consul General of Switzerland, H.E. Hans Hauser chaired the jury panel that included Yussuf Al Nouwais - Group Vice Chairman Emirates Holding, Ingie Chalhoub- President and Managing Director Etoile Group, Mohammed Seddiqi, Fardan Al Fardan, Tawhid Abdallah- Managing Director Damas Jewelry, Jamil Matar- Managing Director Al Fardan Jewelry-KSA, Maximillian Busser, Giulio Papi, Abul Qassim Shirazi- Managing Director Bahrain Jewelry Center, Abdallah Al Sayegh- Vice President Al Sayegh Jewelry, Roger Mrad- Managing Director Wadih Mrad. Est. Lebanon.
Chopard won the best ladies' fashion watch award, Harry Winston won the best ladies' jewelry watch award as well as the best ladies'complication watch, Audemars Piguet won the best ladies' chronograph.
The best classical men watch went to Vacheron Constantin, while Dewitt won the best technical innovation category and the best strap award. Zenith and Van Cleef & Arpels shared first position for the Special Crown or Lock System category.
The best limited edition watch went to A.Lange & Sohne, while the best men's chronograph went to both Patek Philippe and Jaeger-LeCoultre which also won the best men's complication watch of the Year.
Piaget reaped the best men's jewelry watch, while Cartier won the best dial design award.
