Morocco: King launches 2nd part of aeronautic industrial zone's extension works

HM King Mohammed VI launched on Tuesday the extension works of the second part of the aeronautic industrial zone project of the Mohammed V international airport of Casablanca, MAP news agency reported.

The Sovereign laid the foundation stone for the construction of the industrial facility "Aeronautic Creuzet Maroc", a company specialised in the development of aeronautic technologies.

On this occasion, the King was briefed on the aeronautic industrial zone, which constitutes the first industrial zone specialised in this field in Morocco. Extending over approximately 70 ha, this zone gathers 41 industrial facilities and employs 3,206 professionals in various specialities.

The industrial zone will promote aircraft industry, which constitutes one of the strategic sectors that Morocco intends to develop and better position itself internationally in sub-contracting.

The new airport will seek to meet the qualitative needs of the aeronautic sector in order to enable it attract more IT international companies.

Several equipped lands in the industrial zone were made accessible to the investors at preferential tariffs and encouraging procedures.

The construction of the industrial zone has been allocated a budget of almost MAD 30 million. The zone, given its close position to the Mohammed V international airport , will facilitate the fluidity of freight and swiftness in transport of goods and products to the countries of northern Mediterranean basin.

The Sovereign was also briefed on the new town of Nouaceur, extending over 1,300 ha. It will accommodate some 150,000 inhabitants.

Several projects will be launched in the new city, including an integrated city of Royal Air Maroc and a zone for industrial and commercial activities. It will contribute to the promotion of the housing sector and reduce the pressure which weighs on the real estate of the region.
