Royal Air Maroc and the Office National des Aéroports sign an agreement

An agreement was signed by Royal Air Maroc and the Office National des Aéroports on June 20, 2005 at RAM headquarters by Mohamed BERRADA, President and General Manager of Royal Air Maroc and Abdelhanine BENALLOU General Manager of ONDA.

The said agreement is for the construction of a new cargo air terminal, a multipurpose platform covering a surface area of 30 000 m2 on the grounds of Mohammed V Airport with surface area of 44 000 m2 handed over to Royal Air Maroc by ONDA.

The total cost of the said project is estimated to be of approximately 120 million MAD including 80 million MAD for the cargo air terminal.

This building will be operational sometime during 2007.

Provided with the very latest processing equipment and state-of-the-art computer systems, this air terminal will entail many substantial improvements in terms of productivity and service quality.

To be noted is the fact that air cargo in 2004 saw a jump in volume of 55 000 tons, i.e. an increase of 7.5% compared to 2003.

The pace at which is activity is growing is expected to accelerate given the rate of increase of Moroccan exports and external trade foreseen by 2010.

For this purpose and given the structure-building role of Mohammed V Airport as a regional trading platform (87% of total cargo volume) to strengthen its vocation of logistic center point, ONDA and RAM have signed an agreement designed to match the expansion of air cargo and improve the standards of quality, security and competitiveness.

This agreement, which is the result of the joint determination by ONDA and RAM, will certainly have a positive effect on the direction taken by foreign trade in compliance with our country's ambitions in this respect.
