Russia-Ukraine gas row may damage Algeria

ALGERS - The gas row between Russia and Ukraine might have a negative long-term impact on exporters of natural gas, Algerian energy and mining minister Chakib Khelil said on January 5. The crisis between Moscow and Kiev could lead Europe to diversify its natural gas supplies depriving current suppliers "Algeria and Norway" of major market shares, he said. Khelil hinted that Europe could turn to possible suppliers such as Egypt, Qatar and Nigeria and also shop for liquefied natural gas.
