Oman to go ahead with divestment programme

MUSCAT -- The government of the Sultanate of Oman is determined to press ahead with its disinvestment programme, National Economy Minister Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki has said.

He said studies to privatise the postal sector were expected to be completed by the end of this year. "You can expect some developments after that," he told a news conference.

Macki revealed that the government was considering selling its stakes in Oman Fisheries Company , Oman Chromite Company, the Golden Tulip Hotel in Seeb and Oman National Transport Company to the public. He added the cabinet had approved the sale of government shares in Oman Flour Mills Company .

He also said plans were under consideration to build airports in Ras al Hadd, Duqm and Sohar.
