Egypt Exports LNG Shipment to the United States
Cairo (APD) - Egypt has exported the second shipment from its Idku Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant to the United States, al-Ahram daily reported Friday.In is first step in Egypt's LNG industry, Shell Egypt is handling the shipment's export to the United States after it won an international tender to export the shipment.
The first shipment from Idku, about 50 kilometers east of Alexandria City, was exported to Italy last May. The first train of Idku LNG plant has 3.6 million tons a year capacity while the second train has the same capacity of train 1, will produce its first LNG cargo in the second quarter of 2006.
Egypt has exported last January its first LNG shipment from its first natural gas liquefaction plant in the Mediterranean city of Damietta, which is owned by the Spanish Egyptian Gas Company (Segas) . The plant's LNG train is designed to process almost 7.6 billion cubic meters a year of natural gas. [FC]
