Jordan: Board of the Aqaba Railway Corporation approves JD4 million renovation plan

Maan (Petra) - The Board of Aqaba Railway Corporation approved on Thursday the renovation of four locomotives at a cost of JD4 million. During the meeting, chaired by Transport Minister Saud Nseirat, the corporation's Director Hussein Kreishan said that the corporation transported 2.878 million tonnes of phosphate last year, totalling JD8.158 million in revenues. Meanwhile, Nseirat said government plans to privatise the Aqaba Railway Corporation are on schedule. The privatisation plan is viewed as critical to increase the Kingdom's phosphate production and compete in the global market.
