Consultancy and Contracting companies will ensure steel quality in concrete reinforcement, DM
Dubai, Jan 26th, 2012 (WAM)-- The Building Department of Dubai Municipality has advised all consultancy offices and contracting companies operating in Dubai to ensure that their suppliers and manufactures have obtained the registrations certificates and Conformity Mark issued by Dubai Central Laboratory for entire steel products used in concrete reinforcement.
In a circular, the department has cautioned that penalties mentioned in Article 28 of Order 3 of 1999 will be applicable in case of noncompliance.
The circular reminds about the importance of confirming that the suppliers of all iron and steel products including not limited ; steel bars/coils, PC steel wires and stands, couples etc, which are imported to the work sites, have registered and obtained the Conformity Mark from DCL.The circular also stipulates to confirm the validity of certificates and marks as per the approved standard specifications by Dubai Municipality and lab requirements as published on the DCL website: www.dcl.ae According to the circular, the supervising consultant and the contractor of the project will be completely responsible for all steel products used in concrete reinforcement for constructions projects.© Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2012.
