Dubai Municipality nabbed 4200 illegal labourers in 2011
Dubai, Jan 17th, 2012 (WAM) -- Dubai Municipality last year apprehended 4200 different illegal labourers, including resellers, porters, beggars, butchers, car washers in addition to the seizure of 78,765 different types of pirated obscene films, carts to sell vegetables, illegal funds to collect donations and alcoholic drinks, in cooperation with Dubai Police and Department of Residence and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai.
Eng. Obaid Ibrahim Al Marzouqi, Head of Markets Section, said we have a dedicated team working around the clock to catch offenders. Last year municipality officials curbed thousands of illegal activities such as 3004 unlicensed vendors and porters, 536 beggars, 188 butchers, 472 car washers, 16,524 different breaching materials, 56,939 pirated films, 831 obscene films, in addition to 2844 species of vegetables and fruits sold without license outside markets, 1627 bottles of alcoholic drinks, and 35 unlicensed funds to collect donations.He pointed out that municipality conducts continued campaigns to maintain the aesthetic and cultural appearance of the Emirate. It is our main concern to protect the health of consumers and ensure quality of food, through the regular check up of public streets and various areas in the emirate to catch offenders."This phenomenon increases during Ramadan and festival seasons; I request the public to cooperate with civic body to fight against offenders who pose a threat to the security of the country. The public should avoid using illegal labourers as they distort the overall view of the emirate, and most of them entered the country illegally", he added.
