DCL opens new testing facility on paints & coatings
Dubai, Jan 4th, 2012 (WAM) -- Dubai Central Laboratory Department of Dubai Municipality has announced its new testing facility for paints and coatings in accordance with its Dubai Green Building regulation.
Engr. Hawa Abdulla Bastaki Director Dubai Central Laboratory Department of Dubai Municipality inaugurated the facility which has been arranged as a part of Municipality’s effort to make the best service to its customers in line with its vision.Bastaki said that DCL always emphasizes on providing advanced testing facilities to maintain or improve the quality of different types of materials and products."The testing and calibration are made as per international standard ISO-17025 and it act as a reference laboratory in co-ordination with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). Dubai Central Lab is the first laboratory in the middle east authenticated by IEEC for the testing of electrical appliances," she stated and added "DCL made efforts to develop specification and requirements for Paints and coatings discussing with global institutions such as PRA in UK and TUV in Singapore.Eng. Ali Ahmed Elian – Head of Engineering Materials Laboratory Section said that all the testing carried out in the laboratory is as per the latest international standards by using the latest advanced sophisticated equipments. The tests are performed by highly qualified and experienced technicians and analysts. DCL also emphasises the need of evaluation of different stages of the manufacturing process in compliance with international standard ISO – 14040 and ISO – 14043 and manufacturing firms are to maintain the environment free from carbon emission.Mrs. Hend Al Rahma, Head of Chemical Analysis Unit and Imad Juma, Head of Structural Unit explained the new tests such as heavy metals, volatile organic content, solar reflectance index and light reflectance value for paints and coatings.
