DOT signs MoU with Singapore Land Transport Authority
Abu Dhabi, May 4th, 2011 (WAM) -- The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) - a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport that spearheads land transport development in Singapore.
The signing of this MoU signifies DoT’s commitment in building a mutually beneficial long-term relationship with the Land Transport Authority where both parties actively seek collaboration opportunities in important areas of land transport planning and development.The MoU aims at boosting cross-government cooperation on all levels and information sharing in three different broad business areas; Human Resources and Training, Knowledge Management and Project Consultancy.The LTA will be able to provide consultancy and solutions in land transport engineering and management to DoT and expertise which will help in the planning, development and delivery of an efficient and integrated sustainable land transport network in Abu Dhabi that takes into consideration environmental factors and passenger safety.A high-profile DoT delegation, travelled to Singapore recently where they inspected the LTA systems and operations. The MoU was signed during a ceremony at LTA’s Singapore headquarters and was witnessed by the ambassadors from both the UAE and Singapore.Chew Hock Yong, Chief Executive, LTA said: "The MoU provides a framework for Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport and LTA to exchange views and work on joint land transport-related projects. Through the collaboration, LTA hopes to learn from DoT and enhance our understanding of various land transport issues. The MoU will deepen the partnership between DoT and LTA and help strengthen ties between Abu Dhabi and Singapore." .Under the mandate of the MoU, both parties shall jointly collaborate in the exchange of information on Human Resources; Management Systems, Consultancy and Knowledge Management, and Strategic Development and Execution of integrated program management. Services by LTA will be rendered through LTA Academy and MSI Global Pte Ltd.
