Nahyan bin Mubarak witnesses launch of National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine

Abu Dhabi, Sept. 23rd, 2010 (WAM) -- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research yesterday evening witnessed the launch of National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine.

National Geographic Al Arabiya, published by Abu Dhabi Media Company ( ADMC ), has gathered an esteemed group of leaders from the Arab world to serve on the magazine’s board of advisers. National Geographic Al Arabiya will be available on newsstands 1st of October in 15 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

"It is a proud moment for us to look at the Board of Advisors National Geographic Al Arabiya has assembled. It certainly validates the efforts made over the past few years to bring our company into a position to lead the region’s publishing industry, and our commitment to provide quality content to our audiences. We are extremely honoured to have access to this valuable pool of resources; the combined and diversified expertise brought by this group is priceless", stated Edward Borgerding, CEO of ADMC .

"We firmly believe that accurate reporting about the world is best done in consultation with leading scientific voices, and we are pleased that ADMC has gathered such an impressive and diverse panel of experts of the advisory board of National Geographic Al Arabiya," said Tim Kelly, president, National Geographic Global Media. "We are confident that they will add valuable perspective to the magazine."Mohamed Al Hammadi, editor in chief of National Geographic Al Arabiya, said: "National Geographic Al Arabiya provides readers a unique view of the Arab world. The exclusive localized content, totalling 20 to 30 percent, in line with the magazine’s global strategy, will inform, inspire and engage Arab readers. From science and exploration, geography, archaeology and natural science, to environmental and historical conservation, there are so many stories waiting to be told and shared."The publication will be available in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.

National Geographic Channels International and Abu Dhabi Media Company also broadcast the National Geographic Abu Dhabi Channel in Arabic across the Middle East. The new Arabic language edition of National Geographic magazine brings to 33 the number of local-language editions.
