ADMC launches innovative community charity drive for Ramadan

Abu Dubai, August 11th, 2010 (WAM) -- Abu Dhabi Media Company ( ADMC ), the publisher of Al Ittihad and The National, today launched an innovative audience engagement campaign that will run during the holy month of Ramadan, and will benefit the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), UAE.

The initiative is a reflection of ADMC’s commitment to its community, part of its overall CSR strategy. The campaign is based on the unique ability digital media has to enable and encourage audiences of its flagship newspapers to participate in this charity drive.

Starting today until the end of Ramadan, online readers have the option to make the online editions of Al Ittihad and The National their home page with a click of a button (visit www.alittihad.ae or www.thenational.ae and follow the simple conversion steps), while ADMC will donate AED 1 for each new home page conversion made, on behalf of the online readers participating in the campaign.

"This is an example of one of the many opportunities digital media platforms offer to implement cause- related campaigns, engage and mobilize audiences in community initiatives and deliver impactful messages", explained Victoria Mirauer, Director of Marketing and Online Services Digital Media, at ADMC .

"We are delighted to be contributing to raising funds for Red Crescent UAE, who work tirelessly to provide assistance and aid to children in need across the Middle East and Africa, and we are genuinely honoured to be part of this endeavour", said Rashed Al Oraimi, Editor-in-Chief , Al Ittihad.

Laura Koot, Managing Editor at The National, said:"We are looking forward to engaging our readers, who have a passion for making a difference in the community, and who are the key driver for our Ramadan campaign."The UAE’s Red Crescent Authority (RCA) was established in 1983, and is one of 186 members of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

ADMC have committed to donate AED 200,000 to Red Crescent UAE by the end of the Ramadan campaign.
