Abu Dhabi Media Company explore ICT initiatives with ADEC
Abu Dhabi, July 14th, 2010 (WAM) -- A team from Abu Dhabi Media Company ( ADMC ) has visited Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to explore the recent ICT initiatives implemented by latter. The team members were briefed on Identity Management (IDM), a system that has been recently launched by ADEC to enable staff and teachers to use various innovative applications such as ADEC’s Active Directory, ERP system and e-mail service.
The ADEC IT Department gave a presentation on the IDM system, its use, components, implementation, significance and means of overcoming the systems potential risks and challenges. IDM allows the activation of the staff member’s account upon joining ADEC and the deactivation upon termination of service.The visiting team was briefed on the ADEC Web Portal based on MS SharePoint 2007 technology. With enormous capacity for storing information, data and documents, the portal protects information security and privacy and supports business and users by providing services that can improve work efficiency.ADEC is preparing for launching an ICT Infrastructure upgrade project that aims to provide all 300 public schools in the emirate of Abu Dhabi with state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure over the coming 14 months. Costing 350 million dirham, the project will include components such as an end-to-end structured cabling system, Local Area Network with full wireless coverage and internet connectivity upgrade, This upgrade will help connect all schools to a Wide Area Network that will provide centralized management, support, and monitoring services to all schools.
