RCA launches third local charity campaign
Abu Dhabi, 29th March 2009 (WAM) -- The Red Crescent Authority's third charity campaign for assisting decent needy families and persons was launched today in response to instructions by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and President of RCA.
RCA Secretary General Ahmed Al Suweidi told a press conference today the humanitarian drive is part of holistic measures in line with directivesthe prudent leadership of the country to secure requirements of those in need inside the country.The RCA, he said would raise funds over the next two months to carry out projects for the welfare of these segments.The funds, he said will be channeled into humanitarian projects like building and renovating houses of needy citizens and other health and educational aid programmes.''Our initiatives have not neglected and will never ignore the painful realitymany of members of the needy families and low-income groups because of the spiraling prices and fall out of the global financial crisis,''he affirmed. He said that poor patients and students would also be assisted.''We are intending to secure funds for 40 poor students who passed the secondary school exams to enroll in universities,’ he added.Ahmed Al Rumaith, Executive Manager of Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society ,presented during the press conference a cheque of Dh 1.2 million in support of the humanitarian drive.
