President sets up Presidential Aviation Authority
ABU DHABI, Feb. 28th, 2009: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a Law setting up the Presidential Flight Authority ( PFA ).
As per the new Law, PFA shall be a corporate body with full administrative and financial autonomy to achieve its goals. PFA shall replace the Emiri Flight and shall acquire all its assets, rights and commitments. PFA shall be headquartered in Abu Dhabi City and the Executive Council may set up branches and offices in the UAE. PFA is aimed at operating flights for VIPs and providing the highest levels of services, security, safety and amenities for VIPs. It is also aimed at developing air transport services and growing the financial resources.According to the Law, PFA shall be chaired by a board of directors of a minimum of five members and a maximum of 7 members, including the board chairman.Based on a proposal form H.H The Crown Prince, the Executive Council shall appoint the board members as well as decide their allocations.The meetings of the board of directors shall be considered as valid with the presence of most members who shall include the chairman or his deputy. The sessions shall be behind-closed-doors and may be announced only upon approval form the chairman.Decisions by the board of directors shall be based on the votes of the majority.In the event that parity of votes occurs, the chairman shall have a casting vote.Until new regulations are issued for PFA , the same regulations of the Emiri Flights, which do not contradict this new Law, shall be followed, according to the new Law.This Law shall be effective form date of issuance and shall be published in the official gazette.
