ABU DHABI, 25th October, 2016 (WAM) -- Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, launched on Tuesday the automation system, which comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership to transform into smart government.

In his speech during the opening ceremony, Al Mazrouei stressed the ministry's keenness on co-operating, co-coordinating and enhancing communication with strategic partners locally and internationally to organise and prepare studies, projects and initiatives that would achieve the UAE Vision 2021.

The system aims to collect data related to energy from producers and consumers departments, and contributes to studying the current situation and developing deliberate strategies of energy in the UAE.

It also facilitates the work of the Ministry of Energy through the formation of a unified database for energy as the "automation system" will organise the data collection on a regular basis and replace traditional mail which takes a lot of time.

The system provides some data of energy consumption in the UAE for all participant departments.

Among others present were Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Under-Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Energy, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA and Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, DEWA's Director-General.
