The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an intergovernmental organization of 11 of the world's leading natural gas producers made up of Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

The cabinet's ratification, at its meeting chaired by UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, made UAE the 12th state to join the Forum of the major gas exporting countries in the world.

While addressing the meeting, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt.General HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs HH Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid welcomed the results of the GCC consultative summit in Riyadh.

He stressed the importance of continuing the GCC's joint action and expanding the horizons of cooperation among the member states, making it more comprehensive and practical as it will serve the interests of the people, achieve its stability and enhance growth in the GCC countries.

He added that in recent times, the UAE has witnessed great development in the external role played by the country on the Gulf, Arab and global levels and that this role would not have succeeded without the solid foundations established by the founding fathers, internally and externally, as well as the principles of cooperation to do good.

It is on these foundations and principles our foreign policy has been established from the beginning. This makes it imperative that we all adopt the same approach and strenghten this role played by the UAE to open new horizons and achieve our interests and the interests of our citizens, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid emphasised.

The cabinet also gave approval for the decision by the UAE government to join Arab Union of Land Transport (AULT).

AULT is a pan- Arab organization representing road transport interests in Arab States League. Its members consist mainly of public and private operators of collective passengers and freight transport, primarily cross-border.
