Dubai: Dubai police has called on all insurance companies, banks and individual owners which have vehicles confiscated at the police’s impound yard for more than six months to resolve the pending fines with the concerned departments or as all unclaimed cars will be auctioned off within two months.

According to police officials the Local Law No. (34) of the year 2008, stipulates that the Police have the right to dispose of vehicles, machinery and motorcycles seized by them without the owners consent if six months has elapsed since the time it was impounded.

Officials said that police are entitled to get rid of or sell by public auction these impounded vehicles after notifying the owners of these vehicles through an advertisement in two daily newspapers, one in Arabic and the other in English. The owners have a month, after the advertisement, to process their paper work. If they do not do so then vehicle will be sold by public auction in accordance with the provisions and procedures stipulated in the law.

Police said they areplanning an auction in February to sell off impounded vehicles, heavy equipments, and motorcycles which are in custody.

Police said the owners’ can contact the General Department Of Traffic at Dubai police, Fine Section in Al Bursha and Deira Traffic Departments from the date of publishing this notification.

Police said he vehicle will be sold in Public Auction on the February /2013 at 10:00 am. .

Police announced that all unclaimed confiscated vehicles, remaining on its premisses after the legal period of detention will be auctioned.
