Arabtec Engineering Services said it has been awarded a Dh487 million contract by Dubai Civil Aviation to implement a water drainage and sewerage system at the Dubai World Central Jebel Ali International Airport.

The project will be completed in 18 months and involves the supply and installation of underground utilities for Dubai World Central which includes networks for stormwater, sewerage and irrigation, pumping stations, irrigation storage tanks and retention ponds. The work will include more than 100km of pressure pipes and more than 120km of gravity drain pipes of up to 3,200mm in diameter.

Riad Kamal, Managing Director of Arabtec Holding, said: "The role of Arabtec Engineering Services in carrying out infrastructure works is part of its strategy of adding non-building construction works to its portfolio."

Arabtec Engineering Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arabtec Holding and specialises in carrying out engineering services related to infrastructure works including sewerage, stormwater and irrigation networks. The unit is already carrying out projects for Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Dubai Investment Park.
