WAM ABU DHABI: The inaugural edition of the UAE Annual Women's Heart Conference on Saturday commenced under the patronage of H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of General Women's Union (GWU) and of Family Development Foundation (FDF) at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR).

Organized by the Zayed Giving Initiative in collaboration with GWU, ECSSR, Women Sports Committee, the Emirates Heart Foundation '&' UAE Humanitarian Hospital, the 3-day conference offers cardiologist, primary care physicians, obstetric and gynecologic and, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses valuable information on a number of women's cardiovascular topics including: CAD, heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, cardiovascular imaging, prevention, syncope and the role of ablation/devices, micro-vascular angina, hormone replacement therapy, estrogen and endothelial function, sleep apnea in women, and other current topics.

At the opening ceremony, organizers announced the completion of the UAE's Campaign to Cure One Million Children and Elderly People.

The conference attracted a large number of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses who provide obstetric and gynecologic care and primary care.

The elite of cardiologists, consultants and medical experts from around the world will also hold workshops during the conference.

The participations will discuss identifying women at risk for heart disease, addressing gender differences in the presentation and pathology of heart disease, incorporating effective management strategies in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and helping patients develop and adopt effective heart disease prevention strategies.
