Turkish Ambassador Meets with EGX Chairman
Cairo 4, June 2012Dr. Mohammad Omran, chairman of EGX , met with the Turkish Ambassador in Cairo, Mr. Hussein Awni Bostali at The Egyptian Stock Exchange premise- Down Town. During the meeting both parties discussed different files related to the strong economic relations between both countries.
During the meeting both parties expressed the depth of relations between Egypt & Turkey, and the keenness of both sides to enhance cooperation in mutual subjects related to the economic field in general and in financial markets in particular.
Mr. Awni stressed on his country's dedication to support the trade path between Egypt and Turkey specially with the steady growth recorded by the trade movement between them that reached about $ 4.2 billion by the end of 2011 compared to its level in 2007, that was then about $ 400 million, of which Egyptian exports to Turkey recorded a growth rate by more than 50%, and imports to Egypt increased by about 20% which confirms the promising future of trade relations between the two countries.
From his part, EGX Chairman said that Egypt and Turkey have a common vision. He stressed that the relations between both countries is based on complimentarily not competition, referring to their cooperation in the capital markets field specially in marketing, technical, organizational and technological issues.
It?s worth saying that EGX chairman during his visit to Turkey in the last week of June 2012, has signed a joint memorandum of cooperation between the Egyptian Exchange and Istanbul Stock Exchange.
