From October 5 to 7, 2010, Tunisia will host the first edition of the International Recycling and Waste Recovery Exhibition dubbed "2010 Africa Recycling", at the Medina Expo Center, in Yasmine Hamammet.

The event is organized by Medina Events (Poulina Group Holding) under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.

The event aims at changing attitudes regarding waste inviting the public to sort rather than throw, to recycle rather than bury, as well as introducing more efficient use of waste.

Recycling and waste recovery represents an ecological issue and a site which has been implemented for several years in Tunisia to face the dramatic increase of household waste and packaging, environmental pollution, landfills, and waste of raw materials.

The Creation of Tunisia's National Agency for Waste Management (ANGED) enabled the service to increase efficiency and consistency on the national territory, due to the setting up of an adequate policy that meets problems, and provides optimal management of landfills as well as the implementation of pilot projects such as Jradou Central (Zaghouan) and the Bir El Kassaa waste treatment unit, both recently inaugurated by President Ben Ali.

Economic and scientific conferences as well as workshops will be held in collaboration with different partners and with the participation of national and international experts.

B2B meetings will be organized with the view to creating a real professional platform specializes in the exchange and partnership between Tunisian and foreign operators.

"2010 Africa Recycling" will focus in several sectors including the collection and recycling of all types of waste (organic, liquid, plastic, metal, computer equipments...), the creation of companies, scientific research, consulting and training.
