Over 260 entries from jewellery houses and high-end writing instruments brands received for region's most coveted trophy

Manama, Bahrain: More than 260 entries from jewellery houses and high-end writing instrument brands from around the world have been received for the coveted Middle East Jewellery of the Year Awards 2016 edition. Arabian Watches and Jewellery magazine, the organisers of the region’s most reputed competition for fine art, jewellery and design have recently announced the closure of the online nominations for the 2016 edition of the event, which will culminate with a gala awards ceremony at Bahrain’s Ritz Carlton Hotel on 21 November under the patronage of His Excellency Zayed R. Alzayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism for the second year in a row.

Initially conceived in 2006 as a pioneering concept initiated and implemented by Arabian Watches & Jewellery Magazine and PenME to establish industry standards in the region, the Awards serve to recognise and reward the best brand performers in their respective categories through a rigorously screened process monitored by independent and un-biased professionals.

The 2016 edition of the Awards will once again be held alongside the Jewellery Arabia exhibition in Bahrain, a regional meeting point for the international jewellery and watch community, which takes place from 22 to 26 November. This year’s Award ceremony is sponsored by Tamkeen and Art Select. The nominated award entries will be adjudicated by a 16-member committee comprising of independent veteran industry officials, observers, designers, aficionados and connoisseurs of jewellery and pens. The committee has been constituted by MPP-ME, Middle East representatives of Arabian Watches & Jewellery magazines.

“We are delighted that the Middle East Jewellery of the Year Awards is taking place alongside Jewellery Arabia 2016 once again. It draws the best and most representative talent from the industry, and over the years has become known as the ‘Industry Oscars’,” said Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of Arabian Exhibition Management and organiser of Jewellery Arabia 2016.

“The Awards also serve as motivation and recognition of jewellery houses from around the world. This year’s edition will recognise excellence in design and conceptualisation in 15 different categories of jewellery and pens.” he added.
